ABOUT THE BOOK:

Stranger Things meets the Netflix series Dark in this paranormal thriller where three mysterious doors in a highschool basement hold the key to unlocking the mystery of what really happened the night Marina’s brother died.

As the site of a former military base, there have always been rumors that East Township High School was the site of experiments with space and time. For years, students have whispered in the hallways of a doorway created within the school, one that can access multiple timelines and realities, a place known as the Down World.

As the new kid in school and still reeling from the unexplained death of her brother Robbie, Marina O’Connell is only interested in one thing: leaving the past behind. But a chance encounter with handsome Brady Picelli changes everything. He will lead Marina to a startling discovery. The Down World is real and the past, present, and future are falling out of balance.

Brady is determined to help Marina discover what really happened to her brother. However, what is taken from one world, must be repaid by another. And Marina is about to discover that even a realm of infinite possibilities has rules that must be obeyed.

……

MY REVIEW:

Addictive, enticing, entertaining, intriguing. This book sucks you in from the first page and demands your undivided attention to the very climactic ending! I loved the other-worldly vibe to this book and the dystopian like feel to the novel as the story unfolds. Imagine having three secret hidden doors that once you enter you can enter an alternate reality version of the world, different from your own. But once you enter it has consequences. You cannot stay too long, as strange things begin to shift and happen in the other world, and never, ever remove anything from one of the other worlds, no matter how big or small that thing might be… EVER! Or there WILL be consequences.

The novel is written in III parts. In Part I we follow Marina, her parents and her friends lives. Marina is new at her school at East Township. She is in high school (grade 10) and she quickly meets a boy named Brady on her very first day. They quickly become friends. One day she overhears Brady talking to another girl about the DW. Curious, she tries to find out what DW means, and finds out it means the Down World. One night she follows Brady and this girl to the old train station which turns out to be a portal to the DW. This location turns out to be the exact location where her brother Robbie died. In Part I we are introduced to the three doors in the basement of the school that leads to the Down World.

In Part II of the novel, Marina tells her father she is leaving to go away to “camp” and has a plan to sneak away with Brady and enter the DW in search of her brother, convinced that he is still alive out there somewhere. They are on the search for a group of people called The Mystics. In Part III of the novel Marina enters the portal at the train tracks in search of her brother. What she finds is shocking and disturbing, but exciting and new at the same time.

In a world where not everything is as it seems, and there seems to be infinite possibilities and choices to make, what choice would you make? Would you “rock the boat” so to speak and disrupt the Down World regardless of it’s consequences, would you leave everything good enough alone… what would you do? Would you enter the Down World? Would you stay there or would you retuurn?

I loved following Marina and her friends on their journey to the DW and reading their discoveries. It was an interesting concept for a novel and I loved reading along on their adventures. A great book that I definitely recommend!

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Two strangers, a child, and a split second choice that will change everything . . .

Ellen was just trying to help a stranger. That was how it started: giving a few minutes respite to a flustered young mother sitting opposite her on the train. A few minutes holding her baby while the mother makes an urgent call. The weight of the child in her arms making Ellen’s heart ache for what she can never have.

Five minutes pass.
Ten.

The train pulls into a station and Ellen is stunned to see the mother hurrying away down the platform, without looking back. Leaving her baby behind. Ellen is about to raise the alarm when she discovers a note in the baby’s bag, three desperate lines scrawled hastily on a piece of paper:

Please protect Mia
Don’t trust the police
Don’t trust anyone

Why would a mother abandon her child to a stranger? Ellen is about to discover that the baby in her arms might hold the key to an unspeakable crime. And doing the right thing might just cost her everything . . .

……

MY REVIEW:

I am no stranger to books by the incredible TM Logan and once I heard about his latest novel TRUST ME,  you know I just had to get my hands on a copy! And I was not disappointed!

A woman named Ellen meets young mother Kathryn and her young infant daughter Mia on the train. They get to chatting then Kathryn asks Ellen to hold baby Mia for just a few moments so she could take a phone call. Shortly after Kathryn leaves the train, and Ellen can see her walking away from the train platform, while she is still holding baby Mia. What the heck is going on here? Did she forget her baby? Why would she leaves her? How could a mother simply forget her baby?

There is much more going on here and Ellen is determined to find out just what exactly that is. What unfolds is pulse-pounding, thrilling, omg moments from beginning to end as Ellen uncovers the truth about baby Mia. People are after them, but she has no idea who those people are… are they trustworthy? Does Ellen need to protect them from those searching for them, or are those people out to help her with the best of intentions? Ellen is in the dark and not really sure what is going on, what to believe and who to trust.

I enjoyed the cat and mouse chase of this novel and the uncertainty of what is truly going on. Some people I thought could be trustworthy but turned out to be the ones she needed to avoid. Others she avoided or I thought she should avoid and be weary of, and yet those were the ones she could have (and should have) trusted all along. I loved the fact that everything was unpredictable and not easy at all to figure out and it kept me on my toes and guessing the whole way to the very shocking ending!

A fabulous book that I definitely recommend you add to your TBR list right now! Happy reading friends and way to go TM Logan. I am highly anticipating your next novel!

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Writing as Mina Hardy, New York Times bestselling author Megan Hart delivers a thrilling new psychological suspense for fans of The Woman in the Window and When the Lights Go Out.

She’s lost her best friend, her husband–and possibly, her mind.

Five months ago, an accident left Diana Sparrow badly injured and missing a few months of her memory. As if that’s not enough, she’s started having recurring nightmares about the night of the accident. Dreams that feel so real, she’s left questioning: maybe she didn’t just slide off the road into a ditch. Maybe, just maybe, she hit something. Or someone.

She can’t turn to her former best friend Val, who’s been sleeping with Diana’s husband Jonathan for months, but she might find some comfort in newcomer Cole Pelham. Yet the closer they become, the more Diana begins to wonder what really happened that night–and how Cole might be connected. Worse, it seems everyone else could be involved, too.

Who was with her that night? What really happened? As her life unravels thread by thread and the dreams become too real to ignore, Diana will have to face the unthinkable–and do the unforgivable.

……

MY REVIEW:

Thrilling, chilling, edge-of-your-seat entertainment. This book sucks you in from the beginning! I love books with an unreliable main character and this book has exactly that – Diana. Due to an accident months prior she suffers from memory loss, and this adds to the suspense of the novel and I loved it! There are so many questions that demand answers…. What happened the night of the accident, was someone with her? Did she hit someone or something? Why is her husband sleeping with her oldest and best friend Val? So many questions and all will be revealed.

There are so many half-truths, deceit, lies, deception, and betrayals going on that it is hard to know who to believe and what to believe. A recipe for a great novel and I loved it! There is so much going on in this novel I found myself hooked right to the very end. And believe me, the ending is so shocking you will not see it coming! I loved that final twist!

I also enjoyed the various narrators of the novel, they really brought the story to life and it was easy to listen to them narrate the novel.

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Four days…
Trapped in a well, surrounded by dirt, scratching at the walls trying to find a way out.
Four days of a thirst so strong, that when it finally rains, I drink as much as possible from the dripping walls, not even caring how much dirt comes with it.

Six months…
Since my escape. Since no one believed I was taken to begin with – from my own bed, after a party, when no one else was home…
Six months of trying to find answers and being told instead that I made the whole incident up.

One month…
Since I logged on to the Jane Anonymous site for the first time and found a community of survivors who listen without judgment, provide advice, and console each other when needed.
A month of chatting with a survivor whose story eerily mirrors my own: a girl who’s been receiving triggering clues, just like me, and who could help me find the answers I’m searching for.

Three days…
Since she mysteriously disappears, and since I’m forced to ask the questions: will my chance to find out what happened to me vanish with her? And will I be next?

……

MY REVIEW:

Imagine being diagnosed with delusions, depression, and being told you are defiant and paranoid. You lose most of your friends, you feel alone, and something terrible has happened to you but no one believes you, not really. This is how Terra feels. She turns to a website she finds online called Jane Anonymous, a website where victims of crime can come together and chat about their trauma with others, without judgement, who have gone through similar experiences.

I love how the chapters were alternating between “then” and “now”. It adds to the plot and builds up the suspense, as you try to uncover what happened, and if it was all actually in her mind like some people think of if this truly happened to her. What better way to read a story than through the eyes of an unreliable narrator such as Terra.

A wonderful novel that I recommend you add to your TBR.

MY REVIEW:

Addictive, thrilling, pulse-pounding, edge-of-your-seat thrills and chills are all great words to describe this book! I was hooked from the first page and flew through the pages to see what would happen next.

First we read about a wedding invite, inviting you to the wedding of Claire Hunter and Jack Compton. Jack’s family are very wealthy, they have their own security detail and have a lot of power and influence. They also are a family full of secrets, lies, deceit and betrayal. Then we read about a woman in a white dress who is running away from a man. He is chasing her, and she is desperate to get away. Who is this man and woman? Why is he chasing her?

The story then goes into the life and love of Claire and Jack as they prepare for their wedding. So much is going on, there are so many revelations, which raises so many questions, you won’t know who to believe. Are they all hiding secrets, are they all telling lies? Who can you be sure to trust? What if you trust the wrong person?

I loved this book! I enjoyed reading about the many different characters in this book. Claire was an enjoyable character to read about and I enjoyed reading about her love for Jack. They seemed great together and brought out the best in one another. Jack also was an enjoyable character to read about. Rich, charming, handsome, he is the perfect catch to Claire. At the wedding of their dreams, one things after another goes wrong. What or who is behind everything? What happened to Jack’s first wife? Who would be out to get them, on their wedding day of all days.

Lots of surprises, twists and turns, that will have you gasping and hooked to the very ending of the book, you need to get your hands on this book now! You will devour it and love it as much as I did!!

Well done J.T. Ellison. I have enjoyed many of your books and I am excited to see what great book you come out with next!

MY REVIEW:

This book was addictive, it was so hard to stop as I read chapter after chapter. Full of action, thrills and chills, you will love this book!

Imagine knocking onto a strangers door to ask for help. All you want to do is use their phone. Are you safe? Who will be on the other side of the door if they do in fact answer? Can you handle what you might encounter? What if the person who answers the door isn’t all they appear to be? What if, in fact, they are a cold-blooded killer? Would you know? Or want to know?

I really enjoyed the guessing game of this novel and trying to figure our what happened and what was going to happen. I also enjoyed how part of the story unfolded from 9 hours earlier from the POV of Martin Tate. There were a lot of oh-my-gosh moments for me and I loved the twists and turns that kept you guessing. With a killer of an ending (see what I did there?) that you will think about long after you’ve finished reading this novel, I definitely recommend you add this book to your TBR. You will love it!

ABOUT THE BOOK:

ONE LOVE STORY. TWO MARRIAGES. THREE VERSIONS OF THE TRUTH.

Skye Starling is overjoyed when her boyfriend, Burke Michaels, proposes after a whirlwind courtship. Though Skye seems to have the world at her fingertips―she’s smart, beautiful, and from a well-off family―she’s also battled crippling OCD ever since her mother’s death when she was eleven, and her romantic relationships have suffered as a result.

But now Burke―handsome, older, and more emotionally mature than any man she’s met before―says he wants her. Forever. Except, Burke isn’t who he claims to be. And interspersed letters to his therapist reveal the truth: he’s happily married, and using Skye for his own, deceptive ends.

In a third perspective, set thirty years earlier, a scrappy seventeen-year-old named Heather is determined to end things with Burke, a local bad boy, and make a better life for herself in New York City. But can her adolescent love stay firmly in her past―or will he find his way into her future?

On a collision course she doesn’t see coming, Skye throws herself into wedding planning, as Burke’s scheme grows ever more twisted. But of course, even the best laid plans can go astray. And just when you think you know where this story is going, you’ll discover that there’s more than one way to spin the truth.

……

MY REVIEW:

An addictive, edge-of-your-seat thriller that you will find yourself HOOKED on the storyline! I loved the twisty, shock-filled chapters as the story unfolds. I enjoyed reding this story and following along the tangled lives of Skye, Burke and Heather, and it was interesting to read the story from alternate point of views as well as alternate timelines, both past and present. I love a good dark and twisted love story and this book did NOT disappoint!

This book has characters that you will find yourself experiencing many different emotions, often at the same time as well – loving, hating, despising, and others you will feel sorry for. At least that’s how I felt when following along the point of views from the characters as their own individual story was told.

A fantastic read that you need to keep your eye out for when it is released, you definitely don’t want to miss this book!

ABOUT THE BOOK:

“They found the bodies on a Tuesday.” So begins this twisty and breathtaking novel that traces the fate of the Pine family, a thriller that will both leave you on the edge of your seat and move you to tears.

After a late night of partying, NYU student Matt Pine returns to his dorm room to devastating news: nearly his entire family—his mom, his dad, his little brother and sister—have been found dead from an apparent gas leak while vacationing in Mexico. The local police claim it was an accident, but the FBI and State Department seem far less certain—and they won’t tell Matt why.

The tragedy makes headlines everywhere because this isn’t the first time the Pine family has been thrust into the media spotlight. Matt’s older brother, Danny—currently serving a life sentence for the murder of his teenage girlfriend Charlotte—was the subject of a viral true crime documentary suggesting that Danny was wrongfully convicted. Though the country has rallied behind Danny, Matt holds a secret about his brother that he’s never told anyone: the night Charlotte was killed Matt saw something that makes him believe his brother is guilty of the crime.

When Matt returns to his small hometown to bury his parents and siblings, he’s faced with a hostile community that was villainized by the documentary, a frenzied media, and memories he’d hoped to leave behind forever. Now, as the deaths in Mexico appear increasingly suspicious and connected to Danny’s case, Matt must unearth the truth behind the crime that sent his brother to prison—putting his own life in peril—and forcing him to confront his every last fear.

Told through multiple points-of-view and alternating between past and present, Alex Finlay’s Every Last Fear is not only a page-turning thriller, it’s also a poignant story about a family managing heartbreak and tragedy, and living through a fame they never wanted.

……

MY REVIEW:

Edge-of-your-seat, nail-biting, addictive thriller. This novel will have you racing to solve the puzzle of what happened the night the majority of the Pine family died while away in Mexico on vacation. Meet Matt Pine – a student at NYU. His mother, father, and younger brother and sister went away for a vacation in Mexico. The family is survived by Matt and his older brother Danny, presently in prison.

I loved how the novel started with such a strong, pulse pounding revelation. The family of 4 missed their return flight and two days later their bodies were found. What happened to the Pine family? Was it a murder-suicide, is something more sinister at work here? I loved the whole suspense of what truly happened to this family. I felt bad for Matt as he was the one who had to deal with it all on his own. His brother was of little help as there wasn’t much he could do while in prison, so young Matt had to take it upon himself to get some answers.

I enjoyed how the novel was written from various timelines and from various POV’s. Some parts are told from Evan Pine’s POV (the father) in the past, some parts are told from Maggie Pine’s POV (the daughter) in the past, parts are told from Matt’s POV in the present, and parts are told from FBI agent on the murder case, Sarah Keller. It’s a race against time as Sarah Keller works with Matt to solve the mystery of what happened to the Pine family. While Matt is out seeking answers, and flying to Mexico to get the bodies of his family released back to the USA, it is clear that someone is out to get Matt himself. Who would be after him, and what do they want with him? What has he or his family ever done to someone for them to seek him out?

I loved the guessing game of what happened to the Pine family and trying to fit all the pieces together to solve the puzzle. I enjoyed Matt’s character – he was witty, charming, and very likeable. I also enjoyed reading about the story of how his brother Danny ended up in prison years ago for killing his ex girlfriend. Is Danny truly the one who killed her, or is he taking the blame for someone else?

There is so much suspense and thrills in this book it is fast-paced and very addictive. So make yourself comfortable with lots of snacks and drinks when you sit down to read this book, because once you sit down and begin reading you won’t want to stop until you flip that last pulse-pounding page!

A book that I most definitely recommend you add to your TBR now!
