ABOUT THE BOOK:

An unputdownable amnesia thriller that begs the question: how can you trust anyone when you can’t even trust yourself?

Forget the truth.
Remember the lies.

He wakes up on a deserted beach in Maryland with a gash on his head and wearing only swim trunks. He can’t remember who he is. Everything—his identity, his life, his loved ones—has been replaced by a dizzying fog of uncertainty. But returning to his Maine hometown in search of the truth uncovers more questions than answers.

Lily Reid thinks she knows her boyfriend, Jack. Until he goes missing one night, and her frantic search reveals that he’s been lying to her since they met, desperate to escape a dark past he’d purposely left behind.

Maya Scott has been trying to find her estranged stepbrother, Asher, since he disappeared without a trace. Having him back, missing memory and all, feels like a miracle. But with a mutual history full of devastating secrets, how far will Maya go to ensure she alone takes them to the grave?

MY REVIEW:

I have read and LOVED previous novels by Hannah Mary McKinnon so of course I just had to get my hands on her latest novel, You Will Remember Me, and of course I was NOT disappointed!!

This novel sucked me in from the very beginning and I flipped through the pages to see what was going on, and what was going to happen next. Lily and Jack are dating. One day Jack disappears and is missing and Lily begins the frantic search to try to find him. What happened to Jack. They seemed to be so in love and seemed like the perfect, ideal couple.

Then there is a man who wakes up on a beach in Maryland and has no memory or recollection of who he is. Why is he laying on the beach? Why can’t he remember who he is – not his name, where he is from, nothing? All he knows is that he has the strong urge to return to Maine, but has no idea why that pull to return is so strong.

I loved the mystery surrounding the plot and trying to figure out what was going on. I felt so bad for Lily waking up to realize the love of her life has vanished without a trace and wondering if she would ever find Jack again. Then there is this mysterious man who woke up on the beach without any memories at all. There is nothing better than an unreliable main character and this book brings exactly that! I was cheering the whole time for this man to retrieve his memories and uncover who he was, what happened to him to make him forget everything about who he is, and uncovering the mystery about this woman name Maya Scott and seeing how hateful and obsessive she can be.

The whole book was amazing, and I loved absolutely everything about it! Way to go Hannah, I look forward to seeing what you come out with next!

Thank you to MIRA for inviting me along on the Blog Tour for The Stepsisters by Sarah Mallery, and for the eARC via NetGalley.

ABOUT THE BOOK:

#1 New York Times bestselling author Susan Mallery pens a love story of a different sort…a heartfelt tale of friendship between two women who used to be sisters.

Once upon a time, when her dad married Sage’s mom, Daisy was thrilled to get a bright and shiny new sister. But Sage was beautiful and popular, everything Daisy was not, and she made sure Daisy knew it.

Sage didn’t have Daisy’s smarts—she had to go back a grade to enroll in the fancy rich-kid school. So she used her popularity as a weapon, putting Daisy down to elevate herself. After the divorce, the stepsisters’ rivalry continued until the final, improbable straw: Daisy married Sage’s first love, and Sage fled California.

Eighteen years, two kids and one troubled marriage later, Daisy never expects—or wants—to see Sage again. But when the little sister they have in common needs them both, they put aside their differences to care for Cassidy. As long-buried truths are revealed, no one is more surprised than they when friendship blossoms.

Their fragile truce is threatened by one careless act that could have devastating consequences. They could turn their backs on each other again…or they could learn to forgive once and for all and finally become true sisters of the heart.

MY REVIEW:

I enjoyed reading about this family’s dynamics, and the relationships and friendships (or lack thereof) between each of the sisters. There are power struggles, hurt, and resentment that has built throughout the years and they are now faced with having to overcome these, as one of the sisters now needs help from the other two sisters. Daisy and Sage are the two oldest sisters, becoming a family when Daisy’s dad married Sage’s mom. Together they then had their youngest sister Cassidy. Sides are taken within the family amongst the sisters, and they can never seem to get along.

I enjoyed Daisy’s character and couldn’t help feeling sorry for her as I read from her point of view and seeing things from her perspective. She had a lot to deal with not only from her step-sister Sage but also from youngest half-sister Cassidy, who always seemed to take her mom’s side, as well as Sage’s side, leaving Daisy the odd one out. Not to mention the fact that Daisy never did get along with her step-mother.

A great book that I recommend you read!

ABBOUT THE BOOK:

People don’t just disappear without a trace…

Shelby Tebow is the first to go missing. Not long after, Meredith Dickey and her six-year-old daughter, Delilah, vanish just blocks away from where Shelby was last seen, striking fear into their once-peaceful community. Are these incidents connected? After an elusive search that yields more questions than answers, the case eventually goes cold.

Now, eleven years later, Delilah shockingly returns. Everyone wants to know what happened to her, but no one is prepared for what they’ll find…

In this smart and chilling thriller, master of suspense and New York Times bestselling author Mary Kubica takes domestic secrets to a whole new level, showing that some people will stop at nothing to keep the truth buried.

……

MY REVIEW:

11 years ago and a married woman is cheating on her husband. She will sometimes leave home late at night saying she is going for a jog, and then meet up with her mysterious man.

Jump ahead to the present – Delilah hears footsteps above her head and voices talking above her. Delilah is keep in a small, dark room with a boy names Gus. A room that is in the basement. They often play games they make up to pass the time in this dark room. They are being held captive, but who has kidnapped the and why? What could they possibly want?

Without giving too much away there is so much mystery and suspense going on in this novel and I absolutely LOVED it. I found myself hooked on the pages trying to guess what was going on, and why these people were all missing. Would they ever find their way back home? Will the person(s) responsible even be caught?

A fabulous novel that I recommend.

Happy Publication Day to The Perfect Lie by Jo Spain.

……

ABOUT THE BOOK:

He jumped to his death in front of witnesses. Now his wife is charged with murder.

Five years ago, Erin Kennedy moved to New York following a family tragedy. She now lives happily with her detective husband in the scenic seaside town of Newport, Long Island. When Erin answers the door to Danny’s police colleagues one morning, it’s the start of an ordinary day. But behind her, Danny walks to the window of their fourth-floor apartment and jumps to his death.

Eighteen months later, Erin is in court, charged with her husband’s murder. Over that year and a half, Erin has learned things about Danny she could never have imagined. She thought he was perfect. She thought their life was perfect.

But it was all built on the perfect lie.

……

MY REVIEW:

From the first page this book will have you hooked! A shocking beginning that will suck you in as you flip through the pages to find out what is going on, and why. So many questions right from the start and as you read the shocking chapters one by one, all will be revealed.

The perfect couple. So in love and so good together. The have the perfect life. Or so it seems. Until one day when Danny suddenly jumps to his death, Erin is left heartbroken, confused, and full of questions. Why would Danny wish to jump to his death? Was he hiding secrets? What did he have to hide from Erin instead of confiding in her and seeking her support?

I enjoyed reading along and following Erin’s search for the truth of what happened and why. She was an interesting character to read about and reading from her POV. Charged with her husband’s murder she is desperately trying to find all the answers to save herself, as she swears she is innocent. Truths and secrets from past and present are all revealed in time, and Erin learns that not everything was or is as it appears to be. What would you do if you found out that the one person in your life you love and trust the most has been lying to you about so many things and kept things from you? This is the situation Erin now finds herself in, as she learns shocking secrets that Danny has been hiding from her for so many years.

A definite must-read for the year, this is certainly one of my favourites of 2021!! Way to go Jo Spain!  I am already very excited to see what books you come out with next!

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Kate Nelson had it all. A flourishing company founded with her husband, John; a happy marriage; and a daughter, Ashlyn. The picture-perfect family. Until John left for another woman. Tish is half his age. Ambitious. She’s cultivated a friendship with Ashlyn. Tish believes she’s won.

She’s wrong.

Tish Nelson has it all. Youth, influence, a life of luxury, and a new husband. But the truth is, there’s a lot of baggage. Namely, his first wife—and suspicions of his infidelity. After all, that’s how she got John. Maybe it’s time for a romantic getaway, far from his vindictive ex. If Kate plans on getting John back, Tish is one step ahead of her.

She thinks.

But what happens next is something neither Kate nor Tish saw coming. As best-laid plans come undone, there’s no telling what a woman will do in the name of love—and revenge.

……

MY REVIEW:

This book has it all – lies, secrets, betrayals, deception, and lots of revenge. The seemingly perfect Mr. and Mrs. Nelson seem to have it all. Lots of prestige, lots of wealth, lots of respect. But even the most seemingly perfect couple has their downfalls. Tish is the new and improved Mrs. Nelson. She is 20 years younger than his ex-wife Kate. Tish thinks she is smarter, and more beautiful that Kate, and thinks she has won after capturing Mr. Nelson’s heart and hand in marriage. She is the newer version of the has-been, washed out Kate. But there is always that doubt, that jealousy, that lurks in the shadows, and Tish is determined to stay one step ahead of Kate.

Tish is easy to get jealous, and can be vindictive, conniving, deceitful, and controlling. Afterall she tries to control everything that John does, whether it is talking to his ex-wife, spending time with his daughter Ashlyn, even what he does in the run of a day. What unfolds is a whirlwind of drama with plenty of shocking twists and turns that will shock you.

I enjoyed how the novel was told from two parts. In Part I the story is told from both Tish’s and John’s perspectives. In Part II the story is then told from Tish’s, Ashlyn’s and Kate’s perspectives. As we learn, it isn’t only Tish that can be conniving, vengeful and spiteful. The others are quite capable of it as well, and so unfolds a delicious and addictive story full of revenge and I love it!

This book had me hooked and I was unable to put this own down until I read the very last shocking page. A perfectly written book of a game of cat and mouse, where everyone is trying to one-up the other. With an ending that you will not see coming, you will devour this book!

You need to grab your copy of this book today, you will not be disappointed!

Great job Kaira. I am looking forward to your next amazing read!
