ABOUT THE BOOK:

When Lisa married Alex, she gave his life meaning. She was a professional astronomer: a stargazer. And when she gazed at Alex, she saw that behind his tough exterior was a man she could love.

Alex, Lisa and their young son Connor made a happy little universe. But then Lisa dies in a train crash, and their universe is destroyed. Alex is shattered by loss, and overwhelmed by the difficulties of being a single father to a six-year-old boy. How can he and Connor carry on without Lisa lighting up their lives?

Then Alex meets four strangers. Two men and two women, who never met Lisa, but whose lives changed profoundly because she died. As Alex hears their stories, he begins to realise the world may not be as cruel and senseless as it seems. Perhaps, after all, the future is written in the stars…

……

MY REVIEW:

A heart-wrenching, edge-of-your-seat story as you read along and follow the lives of Alex, his wife Lisa and their son Connor. After the terrible train tragedy that took the life of Lisa, Alex struggles to move on with his son Connor without Lisa in their lives. A heart-warming story as Lisa’s loss of life changes the lives of 4 complete strangers, and brings them close to Connor and Alex.

These 4 strangers come in Alex’s life and changes his life as much as Lisa’s death changed theirs. After heartache and unbearable loss they find comfort in one another and quickly become friends and confidantes. Be sure to have tissues handy, as anyone who has read Dani’s novels before know too well that you will definitely need them!

A enjoyable read that had me flipping the pages until the very end, I highly recommend this novel which is available now!

……

MY REVIEW:

After reading and loving Marrs’ previous two novels I was thrilled to get an invite for this blog tour. And I was not disappointed! Meet 5 ordinary people – Flick, Charlie, Sinead, Emilia and Bruno. Each have made mistakes and decisions in their lives that have affected them all in one way or another. Some have little to no friends or family, some are grieving or going through something that has severed all ties with those they love. After getting an ad invite to take part in a test where they see if they can solve a puzzle that apparently only 1% of the population can solve, they are intrigued and try the puzzle, passing with flying colours.

Each of them are then invited to be part of a government operation. Secret and sensitive government information will be uploaded onto little beads that are then injected into sections of these “minders” brains where the information will be safely stored and can only be retrieved through a specific medical procedure. They would have to walk away from their loved ones and walks away from their lives.

I loved the back-story of all 5 of these characters. The book had great character development and talked about their past as well as their present situations that led each of these 5 people to agree to leave their lives behind as they knew it and to walk away and become “minders” for the government. Each had their own personal reasons for why they wanted to walk away from their lives for good. I also enjoyed how this novel was told from varying character POV’s. It was interested to read the various chapters from each of their POV’s, and also reading parts of the government officials as they had their meetings when planning and talking about this new operation regarding the “minders”.

Edge of your seat, nail biting entertainment that will have you flipping through the pages of this futuristic world, and you will not be able to put this book down until the very end. A book that I highly recommend if you haven’t added it yet to your TBR list.

I’m looking forward to Marrs’ next novel. Well done!

MY REVIEW:

Addictive, full of edge-of-your-seat entertainment, and fast-paced! This book will have you hooked from the first chapter, as you fly through the pages of this dystopian world and find yourself immersed into their world and in love with the characters.

I loved the zombie-like vibe of this book and it reminded me of one of my favourite TV shows, The Walking Dead. This is the world in which young Alyx, her brother Tommy, their Uncle Joe and Alyx’s best friend Will find themselves in.

Young Tommy is sick and they fear he might be “infected”. Tommy dies but then comes back stronger and with unexplainable powers that he didn’t have before. As the 4 of them leave their home and are on the run in search for a new walled-up area for safety, they are also fighting off those “infected” that they encounter on their journey.

I really enjoyed the strong heroine front-runner of the novel, Alyx. She is bad-ass, full of determination, doesn’t back down from a challenge, and is a strong female lead. She is full of spunk and personality, and loves her family and friends dearly, and would fight to the death for them. She and her best friend Will have feelings for another another but they don’t act on them, which ups the tension and awkwardness when they are together. They when they find refuge in the new camp, Alyx meets the handsome Colt, and she develops an attraction to him as well. I loved the young love aspect of the book and awaiting to see what Alyx will do considering she has two boys who are interested in her, and that she herself is interested in.

Then we have young Tommy. He is sweet and kind, and now has these mysterious powers that can benefit him and his family as they find refuge in this strange world, but he also has to be safe and careful when around others, as he cannot let on the powers that he does have. What would others do if they found out about Tommy’s powers? Would he be safe?

Kill of Cure is full of characters that you will find endearing, full of life, and you can’t help but fall in love with them. Will they be able to keep Tommy’s powers a secret? The fact that Tommy came back to live, stronger and better than ever has to mean something, right? Could he be the cure? Is it only a matter of time before Tommy fully turns? Only time will tell.

I am thrilled that this was only the first novel in the Kill or Cure series, and I cannot wait to read the other books in the series. Way to go Pixie, you killed it with this book! (see what I did there?).

Stay tuned for my other reviews of books in this series. Be sure to grab your copy of this book today. You don’t want to miss it!

ABOUT THE BOOK:

In #1 New York Times bestselling author Kelley Armstrong’s next Rockton book, A Stranger in Town, the biggest mystery is the fate of the town itself.

Detective Casey Duncan has noticed fewer and fewer residents coming in to the hidden town of Rockton, and no extensions being granted. Her boyfriend, Sheriff Eric Dalton, presumes it’s the natural flux of things, but Casey’s not so sure. Something bigger is happening in the small town they call home.

When an injured hiker stumbles from the woods, the sole survivor of a hostile attack, it’s all hands on deck. Even a member of the elusive Rockton council comes in to help. This council member also comes bearing news: Rockton is being shut down due to the hostile situation.

Casey and Eric must now race to save the town that has allowed residents to have a fresh start, away from the mistakes of their past, while also getting to the bottom of this latest attack.

……

MY REVIEW:

A 6th installment in the Rockton series? Yes please. Another addictive story following power couple Detective Casey Duncan and Sheriff Eric Dalton? Heck yes! These two are amazing characters that you will quickly and easily fall in love with. Their personalities are fierce, strong, and endearing and you will fall in love with these characters, their town of Rockton and their daily lives as they have mystery after mystery to solve. And they are definitely not easy feats for sure.

When this new and strange woman is found stumbling from the woods she clearly has been attacked. It is thought to be the hostile and everyone is rushing to determine what happened to this woman. Adding to the mystery is the fact that she does not speak English to talking with her and getting answers will not be easy. Soon not all is as it appears to be and they are unsure if this was in fact a hostile attack. If it wasn’t then who could be responsible? Could it be one of their own Rockton residents? Could someone from the outside have attacked this woman? What happened to the rest of the people this woman was with it the woods, and where are they?

There are so many things needing to be solved in this case, you will find yourself hooked and immersed in the storyline as you try to help Casey and Eric solve the mysteries. I just loved these characters and the town’s stories, and was thrilled to hear there was another book in the Rockton series. I definitely recommend this book and cannot recommend it enough. Even though this book is #6 in the Rockton series it can easily be read as a standalone as well. Of course I do recommend that you also read the previous 5 novels in this series at some point as well, this series is incredible and addictive.

Well done Kelley Armstrong. I am so excited to see what you come out with next, especially in the Rockton series!

ABOUT THE BOOK:

A classic sort of love story…except somebody might wind up dead.

Nobody knows Delilah like Logan does. Nobody. He makes sure of it by learning everything he can through her social media and watching her through a hidden camera he has trained on her house. Some might call him a stalker. Logan prefers to be called “romantic”.

But after Logan sees Delilah killing her abusive stepfather, he realizes there’s still more about her to discover. His sweet, perfect Delilah isn’t so perfect after all.

Delilah knows she should feel guilty, but all she feels is free. She’s so over the men in her life controlling her. Except Logan saw what she did, and he won’t let her forget it.

Delilah is done being the victim. And she refuses to be a character in Logan’s twisted fantasy. If Logan won’t let her go…she’ll make him.

……

MY REVIEW:

Addictive, dark, edgy, and twisted! I loved how this book keeps you hooked and flipping through the pages to see what would happen next. First you have Logan. A teen in high school that has some dark and twisted tendencies. He becomes easily obsessed with others, and stalks them around without their knowing they are being followed, but he justifies it as him “keeping them safe”. He pledges love for a girl he suddenly meets by the name of Delilah (Dee). She looks so much like someone from his past, which he tragically lost; could this be why he is so attracted to her. Dee seems like a sweet girl, so does she deserve to be the next obsessive target of Logan’s? Dee isn’t all she appears to be either. She has her own dark and twisted secrets.

I enjoyed how parts of the story were told from Dee’s POV and others were told from Logan’s POV. It allows us as the reader to see the world through their own eyes, and helps us understand what makes them tick and what drives them to do what they do. I enjoyed the suspense around the storyline and reading what was going to happen next. You truly never know where things will tur in the book and I really enjoyed that.

A definite must read to add to your TBR!
