ABOUT THE BOOK:

Before he was freed by Neferet, Kalona was imprisoned within the earth for centuries because of the Darkness in his heart. But what happened to the Other World’s Kalona? It’s as though he’s been forgotten, or maybe he never existed at all …

In the present, Other Neferet may have left her House of Night, but she has far from given up her goal of immortality and world domination. As she operates in secret to gain access to Old Magick, the new High Priestess, Anastasia Langford, works toward peace and acceptance for the vampyres of the Other World. But just as Other Kevin’s broken heart will take time to heal, peace in that world will also take time and work—and not all of the Other World vampyres want peace. After all, why should they return to being shunned by humans, especially when they’ve had a taste of how it feels to be in power?

Meanwhile, Zoey is desperate to help rid the Other World of Neferet once and for all, and not knowing what’s going on over there is eating away at her. But, as the Nerd Herd warns, it’s far too dangerous to call on Old Magick time and again. As a distraction, she throws herself into her work and attempts to bring the humans and vampyres of Tulsa closer together with the first human-vampyre swim meet in history! It’s too bad that something always seems to go wrong whenever the stakes are high.

What happens when worlds clash and powers that should be left alone are awakened? Can Other Kevin and his world heal from the wounds Neferet continues to inflict? Can Old Magick ever truly be harnessed and used for good? Or will Darkness extinguish Light and leave our heroes broken, hopeless, and as forgotten as Kalona of the Silver Wings? Don’t miss this second to last volume in the House of Night Other World saga!

MY REVIEW:

If you haven’t read any of the House of Night novels you are seriously missing out! This dynamic mother and daughter duo are amazing and write amazing novels and this novel is a must read!

I loved the House of Night novels and am thrilled to have received a copy of Forgotten (House of Night Otherworld #3) to read and share my opinions with you all. This book is thrilling, magical, dark and edgy! There are many characters that you will love (and love to hate!) and some you will love to read about. Some you will recognize from the House of Night series if you’ve read them, and the story is full of vampires and magic that will pull you in and have you wanting to read more.

I enjoyed reading about Neferet, and her evilness, as well as the Nerd Herd. This novel is fast-paced and you will find yourself falling in love with the storyline as you flip through the chapters and enter into this alternate, other world.

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Imagine turning up to your own party, and recognising no one. Your best friend has just created your worst nightmare.

Louisa is an exhausted, sleep-deprived new mother and, approaching her fortieth birthday, the very last thing she wants to do is celebrate.
But when her best friend Tiff organises a surprise party, inviting the entire list of Lou’s Facebook friends, she’s faced with a new source of anxiety altogether: a room full of old college classmates who she hasn’t spoken to in twenty years. And one person in particular she never expected to see again is there – her ex-boyfriend from college, the handsome and charismatic Oliver Dunmore.
When Oliver’s wife Melissa goes missing after the party, everyone remembers what happened that night differently. It could be the alcohol, but it seems more than one person has something to hide.
Louisa is determined to find the truth about what happened to Melissa. But just how far does she need to look…?

One simple Facebook invitation unfolds into something both tragic and monstrous; a story of obsessive love, breath-taking deception and masterful manipulation.

MY REVIEW:

Wow what a book! If you haven’t had your eyes set on this book be sure to go add it to your TBR list RIGHT NOW! This was the first book I have read by this author and I am thrilled to learn she has another novel coming out later this year! I cannot wait to get my hands on that book!

You will seriously love this book. Full of deception, lies, betrayal, secrets, and a party that leaves so many questions that no one can finds answers to, this book will have you guessing and second-guessing at every turn as secrets are revealed, more questions arise, and not everyone is who they appear. There are many people with something to lose, something to hide, and who can you trust if you aren’t sure who is on your side?

I enjoyed the fast pace of this book and it left me wanting to know more, so of course I had to keep reading and couldn’t put this book down. With an unreliable main character this is a recipe for a great book. Who knows what happened that night, and where Melissa disappeared, as most everyone at the party was drinking so their memories are foggy at best.

This book will have you guessing right to the shocking twisted end, and you’ll love the entire ride!

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Sixteen-year-old Skye is done playing the knight in shining armor for her insufferable younger sister, Deirdre. Moving across the country seems like the perfect chance to start over.

In their isolated new neighborhood, Skye manages to fit in, but Deirdre withdraws from everyone, becoming fixated on the swampy woods behind their house and building monstrous sculptures out of sticks and bones.

Then Deirdre disappears.

And when something awful comes scratching at Skye’s window in the middle of the night, claiming she’s the only one who can save Deirdre, Skye knows she will stop at nothing to bring her sister home.

……

MY REVIEW:

16 year old Skye is looking after her younger sister Deirdre, 13 years old, one evening while their parents are gone out. Skye ends up falling asleep and their mom comes home asking Skye where Deirdre is. They look for her but she is nowhere to be found – she is missing!

Why is Deirdre so fascinated with the swampy woods behind their house? What was there that she found so interesting? A great horror of a book and fans of YA will love this novel. It isn’t too scary, and the cover is totally creepy and I LOVE it! How come no one can seem to find Deirdre? They have seemed to looked everywhere to no avail – Deirdre seems to have simply vanished.

Will they be able to find Deirdre, or is she gone for good?

As the truth begins to unravel, Hailey finds herself unveiling secrets she never could have imagined—secrets that have the possibility of ruining everything…

……

MY REVIEW:

This book was such a gripping read. I loved how the story unfolded bit by bit, and left you wanting to know more about what truly happened. Did Declan kill himself? Was Declan murdered? Is something darker and more sinister at play? I was flipping through the pages wanting to know more, and was unable to put this book down.

This book is full of secrets, lies, deception, love and friendship. The story is told from alternating timelines, both then and now. I enjoyed how the timelines jumped back and forth and I enjoyed reading about the then moments and finding out what happened. What you learn will shock you, and I for one was not expecting what was revealed. Great book and I look forward to reading more by this author.

MY REVIEW:

Can we take a moment to just appreciate the beauty that is the cover of this novel? I absolutely LOVE the cover of this book!

Ok, so the synopsis of this book had me absolutely hooked and I knew I MUST READ this thrilling novel. SO I was thrilled to have received a copy from the publisher – and I was NOT disappointed! This novel will have you flipping through the pages as you read more and more, wanting to know what was going to happen next. I was absolutely hooked on this book, and couldn’t wait to see what would happen to all the teens involved. Why were they disappearing, where were they? And who, if anyone, could be responsible?

When I found out the answer to those questions, I was shocked. I was not at all expecting that!! Three rich and handsome grad students, who kidnap the girls? and the house of horrors that awaits them all. Wow so much thriller and suspense, I loved it! Each room in the house of horrors has a different test that you must endure before they let you back out again and join the others kidnapped and you can re-join them in the common area where they are all held. One by one they are called to a room, and they must go or suffer consequences. As they return from the rooms they are called into, they return disheartened, broken, and hopeless. Why would their kidnappers be doing such a thing to them? How will they ever get over the daily torment, and who knows for how long!

This book was simply amazing, addictive, and a thrill for days. Be sure to read your copy now!

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Jemma knows who the murderer is. She knows because he told her.

He thought his secret was safe because Jemma can’t speak or move.

But Jemma observes all kinds of things about everyone around her. His secret is just one of them.

And when a new technology means she may be able to communicate and reveal all she knows, Jemma no longer feels powerless in the face of this deadly secret. It’s a race against time before the killer acts again…or tries to stop her.

……

MY REVIEW:

This book had me hooked from the very beginning. I loved Jemma’s character. She was brave, strong-willed, cared immensely for others, and was a lovable character in the novel. She was interesting and fun to read about, and had a great personality.

Jemma is a 16 year old girl with cerebral palsy, is in a wheelchair, and she cannot walk or talk. She and her siblings were adopted by their parents. Jemma has an aide who takes care of her in the home daily named Sarah, and Jemma is really close to her. Sarah thinks the world of Jemma, and Jemma feels the same about her. Often people say or do things around Jemma, taking advantage of the fact that she cannot speak, so they rely on the fact that Jemma cannot tell on them or speak of things she has witnessed or heard.

One day Sarah’s boyfriend Dan comes by the house to pick Sarah up for a date. He appears nice and sweet to everyone else, but Jemma knows the truth. She knows because one day he whispers in her ear unspeakable things, dark things – he whispers something bad that he did, knowing his secret is safe… or is it?

I loved this novel right through to the exciting end. Be sure to check this one out, I am sure you will love it as much as I did!

Hi everyone and welcome to my stop on this exciting blog tour for The Grace Year by Kim Liggett. Thank you to Raincoast Books for inviting me to be a part of this tour and for sending me a beautiful paperback copy of this book to read for the tour. Can we take a moment or two to admire this stunning cover…. Wow I am loving it!

……

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Survive the year.

No one speaks of the grace year. It’s forbidden.

In Garner County, girls are told they have the power to lure grown men from their beds, to drive women mad with jealousy. They believe their very skin emits a powerful aphrodisiac, the potent essence of youth, of a girl on the edge of womanhood. That’s why they’re banished for their sixteenth year, to release their magic into the wild so they can return purified and ready for marriage. But not all of them will make it home alive.

Sixteen-year-old Tierney James dreams of a better life—a society that doesn’t pit friend against friend or woman against woman, but as her own grace year draws near, she quickly realizes that it’s not just the brutal elements they must fear. It’s not even the poachers in the woods, men who are waiting for a chance to grab one of the girls in order to make a fortune on the black market. Their greatest threat may very well be each other.

With sharp prose and gritty realism, The Grace Year examines the complex and sometimes twisted relationships between girls, the women they eventually become, and the difficult decisions they make in-between.

……

MY REVIEW:

Wow! This book was simply amazing! An addictive, edge of your seat, nail-biting, page-turning novel that will leave you wanting more. I was so deeply immersed in this storyline that I found it very difficult to put this book down as I had to know what was going to happen next.

Imagine being 16 years old and knowing your grace year is upon you, and you will have to leave your family and friends for the next year, not knowing if you will make it out alive and return to your home in a year… How would you feel? Would you be able to handle it? Knowing that not everyone that leaves Garner County makes it out of the grace year alive. What happens during the grace year? No one is permitted to talk about it, so how can you prepare for the unknown? How can you ensure you are not only safe from the poachers in the woods who are determined to capture you, but also from one another; the very girls you are banished with. Who can you trust?

I loved the plot in this novel, and the character development. I really loved reading about Tierney’s character. It was enjoyable to read about her growth she made in the novel, and I enjoyed her personality. She was witty, friendly, determined to fight for what she believed in, and she was as tough as they come. She was a bad ass lead character that I loved reading about. She knew what she wanted, and stayed firm to her values and beliefs.

Reading about what actually happens during the grace year was shocking, entertaining, disturbing, dark and twisty. In short – I loved it!! It made for sure a great addictive read and by the end of the book I was wanting more. You will be left thinking about this book long after you’ve finished reading it.

I loved how it gave me vibes of part Hunger Games, part Lord of the Flies, both stories which I absolutely loved!

All the stars for this book! I loved it! If you haven’t had your eyes set on this book be sure to keep an eye out for when it releases on it’s publication date – available October 8th, 2019!
