ABOUT THE BOOK:

Lia Setiawan has never really fit in. And when she wins a full ride to the prestigious Draycott Academy on a track scholarship, she’s determined to make it work even though she’s never felt more out of place.

But on her first day there she witnesses a girl being forcefully carried away by campus security. Her new schoolmates and teachers seem unphased, but it leaves her unsure of what she’s gotten herself into.

And as she uncovers the secrets of Draycott, complete with a corrupt teacher, a golden boy who isn’t what he seems, and a blackmailer determined to get her thrown out, she’s not sure if she can trust anyone…especially when the threats against her take a deadly turn.

MY REVIEW:

I enjoyed reading about Lia’s adventures, trials and tribulations as she transfers to Draycott Academy. Weird things are happening at her new school, threats are made, and it seems someone is now threatening her. Who would want to threaten her, and why? I enjoyed the school setting of this novel, and it worked well for the plot of this novel. Lia was a very likeable character and it was interesting to read things from her point of view. A book that I would recommend to others who love YA.

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Tom’s family have moved into their dream home. But pretty soon he starts to notice that something is very wrong – there are strange messages written on the wall and locks on the bedroom doors. On the OUTSIDE.

The previous owners have moved just across the road and they seem like the perfect family. Their daughter Amy is beautiful and enigmatic but Tom is sure she’s got something to hide. And he isn’t going to stop until he finds the truth behind those locked doors. . .

Will their dream home become a nightmare?

MY REVIEW:

I enjoyed the plot of this book as it had me curious and guessing to why the doors would be locked from the outside, and why there was writing on the walls. Eerie, right? Add to that the fact that the previous owners of the house, including a girl that goes to Tom’s school, now live just up the road from where they previously lived. Why sell a house only to move a few doors down? I enjoyed reading from Tom’s perspective as he discovers all of these strange things and tries to solve the mystery of what is going on. Who really is this girl Amy and why is she so strange? Also, why is her family acting strange as well. Convinced something is going on, Tom befriends Amy and is determined to figure it out for himself.

A good novel that had me hooked on the pages as I read chapter after chapter. I love a good YA novel and this one is one that I definitely recommend.
