ABOUT THE BOOK:

We tell girls that they can be anything, so why do 90 percent of Americans believe that geniuses are almost always men? New York Times bestselling journalist Janice Kaplan explores the powerful forces that have rigged the system—and celebrates the women geniuses past and present who have triumphed anyway.

Even in this time of rethinking women’s roles, we define genius almost exclusively through male achievement. When asked to name a genius, people mention Albert Einstein, Leonardo da Vinci, and Steve Jobs. As for great women? In one survey, the only female genius anyone listed was Marie Curie.

Janice Kaplan, the New York Times bestselling author of The Gratitude Diaries, set out to determine why the extraordinary work of so many women has been brushed aside. Using her unique mix of memoir, narrative, and inspiration, she makes surprising discoveries about women geniuses now and throughout history, in fields from music to robotics. Through interviews with neuroscientists, psychologists, and dozens of women geniuses at work in the world today—including Nobel Prize winner Frances Arnold and AI expert Fei-Fei Li—she proves that genius isn’t just about talent. It’s about having that talent recognized, nurtured, and celebrated.

Across the generations, even when they face less-than-perfect circumstances, women geniuses have created brilliant and original work. In The Genius of Women, you’ll learn how they ignored obstacles and broke down seemingly unshakable barriers. The geniuses in this moving, powerful, and very entertaining book provide more than inspiration—they offer a clear blueprint to everyone who wants to find her own path and move forward with passion.

MY REVIEW:

When you think of a genius, which names comes to mind? Do you think of the usual mentions such as Albert Einstein, and Leonardo da Vinci? If you were asked to name a female genius, who would you think of? You might find yourself having to think longer and harder for a name. Many people have previously thought of geniuses as being male… often forgetting female geniuses. I love how Kaplan explores and challenges this way of thinking and bringing to light the fact that geniuses can in fact be women. Men aren’t the only ones who are capable of being true geniuses.

Kaplan writes this novel in a very interesting way that grabs your attention and make you question any previous teachings and thoughts about what constitutes a genius. A lot of research went into this novel and was truly an enjoyable read as you read through each chapter. I enjoyed reading about the many women geniuses in this novel who paved the way to their own success in the face of a male-dominated world.

Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for this book, on sale tomorrow – February 18th, 2020!

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Imagine that your husband has two other wives.

You’ve never met the other wives. None of you know each other, and because of this unconventional arrangement, you can see your husband only one day a week. But you love him so much you don’t care. Or at least that’s what you’ve told yourself.

But one day, while you’re doing laundry, you find a scrap of paper in his pocket—an appointment reminder for a woman named Hannah, and you just know it’s another of the wives.

You thought you were fine with your arrangement, but you can’t help yourself: you track her down, and, under false pretenses, you strike up a friendship. Hannah has no idea who you really are. Then, Hannah starts showing up to your coffee dates with telltale bruises, and you realize she’s being abused by her husband. Who, of course, is also your husband. But you’ve never known him to be violent, ever.

Who exactly is your husband, and how far would you go to find the truth? Would you risk your own life?

And who is his mysterious third wife?

MY REVIEW:

OMG!!! This book guys! Such an incredible, addictive, roller coaster ride that you will love right to the very shocking and twisted ending! You will find yourself completely immersed in this novel as you read shocking chapter after chapter, and it will leave you wanting to read more. Imaging having to share your husband with not one, but two other women. Certain days of the week he spends with you and then is gone the other days to spend with his other wives in turn. Would you be able to share your husband with other women? Would you be completely fine with it, or would you ask questions and be jealous but put up with it?

I was hooked on this book as I flew through the chapters. I enjoyed reading the novel from Thursday’s perspective and learning how she managed and coped with such a unique marriage arrangement with her husband Seth.

A book full of shocking secrets, twists and turns and lots of drama, this novel is a definite must read. If you haven’t read this book yet be sure to add it to your TBR!

I absolutely LOVED this book and cannot wait to read more books by this author!

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Sienna Scott grew up in the dark shadow of her mother’s paranoid delusions. Now, she’s returned home to confront her past and the unsolved murder that altered the course of her life.

In her mother’s shuttered house, an old fear that has haunted Sienna for years rears its ugly head —that it was she who had been the killer’s target that night. And now, with it, a new fear—that the killer not only intended to remedy his past mistake—he’s already begun. But are these fears any different from the ones that torment her mother?

As the walls close in, the line between truth and lie, reality and delusion disintegrate. Has Sienna’s worst nightmare come true? Or will she unmask a killer and finally prove she may be her mother’s look-alike, but she’s not her clone?

……

MY REVIEW:

This book had me hooked! Sienna’s grew up dealing with her mother’s mental health – her mother had paranoid delusions, and now many years later Sienna is fearful she is turning out to be just like her mother. Was Sienna truly suffering with her own mental health and did she have the same paranoid delusions her mother did, or is something else going on? Not sure what to believe we follow Sienna’s story unsure what’s true and what is not.

I enjoyed the suspense of not knowing what was truth or not, and guessing and second guessing along the way. A great book that will have you immersed in the story as you slowly uncover what is truly going on.
