Hi everyone and welcome to my stop on the exciting Blog Tour for Sheryl Browne’s newest book The Second Wife. Thank you to Bookouture for inviting me to be a part of this Blog Tour and for providing an eARC copy of this book via NetGalley.

Bestselling Author, Sheryl Browne, brings you powerful psychological thriller and contemporary fiction.  A member of the Crime Writers’ Association and the Romantic Novelists’ Association, and previously writing for award winning Choc Lit, Sheryl has several books published and two short stories in Birmingham City University anthologies, where she completed her MA in Creative Writing.

So why does Sheryl write in two genres? Quoting E. L. Doctorow, Sheryl says: “Writing a novel is like driving a car at night. You can only see as far as your headlights…” This she thinks sums up a writer’s journey, you never quite know where you are going until you get there. You might start with an outline, but a strong character will always divert from the plot. If Sheryl’s not sure where a character is going, she simply has to trust him to show her the way. Plus, according to one reviewer, she also has a scary insight into the mind of a psychopath.

She made her bed. You’ll lie in it.

Rebecca only wanted to help out – to be kind. Richard seemed so alone after his wife, Nicole, died, and Rebecca wanted to make sure he knew he had someone to rely on.

But now she’s in Nicole’s immaculate house. Drinking from her favourite crystal wine glass. Keeping shoes in her orderly closet. Comforting her sweet and grieving step-daughter. It feels like Rebecca is living another woman’s life.

And as she gets to know the neighbours, Rebecca hears stories that make her wonder: was free-spirited Nicole happy in this perfect life, or did she feel trapped? Did she feel, as Rebecca is beginning to, that something wasn’t quite right?

The book everyone’s talking about! If you loved The Girl on the TrainThe Wife Between Us and The Girl Before, you’ll be totally gripped and unable to put down this twisty page-turning psychological thriller.

An addictive novel from the very beginning. A father and daughter duo with a tragic past. A whirlwind romance, quick wedding, and more tragedy. The Second Wife is full of rivalry, bitterness, jealousy, betrayal, and deceit. What a great recipe for a book a very addictive, compelling read! This book will have you on the edge of your seat as you flip through the pages and are engrossed in the book!

Richard is a widow with a teenage daughter Olivia. Richard is the perfect man of anyone’s dreams and is quite a catch! He is handsome, successful, business savvy, has money, is romantic, kind, and is a true gentleman. Richard meets a lovely woman named Nicole, who has been through a rough previous marriage. They begin to spend a lot of time together and fall in love. They have a whirlwind romance that quickly ends in a marriage.

After moving in together, Nicole begins to see that not everything is going as smoothly or as perfect as she had once believed. Richard’s daughter Olivia appears to be jealous of her father’s new wife, having to share her home and her father’s attention with another woman. Olivia is hell bent on making Nicole suffer, and seems to get thrills off of taunting Nicole and plays mind games with her. Before long Olivia seems to be driving a wedge between her father and Nicole.

Fast forward to the present. Nicole’s dearest friend Rebecca meets Richard and his daughter Olivia at Nicole’s funeral. A tragic death that raises many suspicions and questions. Determined to find out the truth, Rebecca gets to know Richard and his daughter Olivia, only to fall in love with her best friends widow, Richard.

I devoured this book and was addicted to the drama. Olivia was a cruel and relentless young woman, full of secrets and deceit. You never knew what she would do next and it added a great amount of suspense and thrill to the book. I enjoyed reading about Richard. He seemed like the perfect man… too perfect… I was waiting for that one shoe to drop to reveal everything with him wasn’t quite as it seemed. Was he the perfect man Nicole and Rebecca thought he was?
Looks can be deceiving. A book full of twists and surprises, that will have you hooked to the very end!

MY RATING: 5/5 stars
