Thank you to St. Martin’s Press, Wednesday Books and Raincoast Books for the free review copy.

This was the first book I have read by Courtney Summers and believe me I am one of her newest fans.

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Sadie hasn’t had an easy life. Growing up on her own, she’s been raising her sister Mattie in an isolated small town, trying her best to provide a normal life and keep their heads above water.

But when Mattie is found dead, Sadie’s entire world crumbles. After a somewhat botched police investigation, Sadie is determined to bring her sister’s killer to justice and hits the road following a few meagre clues to find him.

When West McCray—a radio personality working on a segment about small, forgotten towns in America—overhears Sadie’s story at a local gas station, he becomes obsessed with finding the missing girl. He starts his own podcast as he tracks Sadie’s journey, trying to figure out what happened, hoping to find her before it’s too late.

MY REVIEW:

Wow this book! Addictive, powerful, compelling, and dark with loads of shocking twists.

The style of writing in this book was absolutely fantastic! It’s not often you read a book as told in a podcast format and although it was a different book for me to read in this way I loved it! It was so unique and lends to the plot very nicely. Well done Courtney!

The different points of views flowed nicely in the story and came together in a fantastic way to give the reader a full picture of what was going on. The podcaster takes on the role of detective and is determined to uncover the whole story and the truth of what happened and deliver the story to his podcast listeners.

A young girl who takes after her little sister, as their mother is addicted to alcohol and drugs and doesn’t take care of her two young daughters. Sadie finds herself as the motherly role for her younger sister and is devastated when her young sister is found murdered. Sadie is determined to find the person responsible for her sister’s murder and is set on making them pay!

We see the world from Sadie’s eyes and her point of view as she sets out to find her sister’s murderer. Her journey takes her to several places where she meets several different people and she is left to fend for herself and she tries to uncover the truth.

Will Sadie find the person she is looking for and get the revenge she desperately seeks?

A definite must read! All the stars for this powerful, addictive book!
