Thank you to the Publisher Harper Collins, William Morrow Books, and Edelweiss for the free eARC copy of this book to read and review. This was my first book I have read by Karin Slaughter and it will not be my last. I was excited to read this book after hearing many wonderful reviews on it.
This book follows the story of Laura and her daughter Andrea. They live in the small beach town of Belle Isle and are eating lunch together at the Rise n’Dine restaurant in celebration of Andrea’s 31st birthday! What could possible go wrong? Well seemingly nothing, until all of a sudden an explosion of violence erupts and Andrea gets a glimpse into her mothers’ true self and sees another side of her mother she didn’t know existed. Andrea is confused… Who is her mother? How did she not know certain things about her mother? What else is she hiding from Andrea?
This book had me hooked from the very beginning. Once I started reading this book I was unable to put it down. YES this book is THAT good. Seriously I loved it. From the secrets and lies, to the betrayal that is uncovered as you read this book, you will find the pages turning themselves as you are wanting to learn more and more and find out what will happen next. Great character development in this book, as we learn about the individual characters and what they have experienced in their lives to shape them into the person they are today. We learn about characters from the past which I enjoyed reading about as well and how they played a role in the story.
Very cleverly written book from beginning to end. Full of shocking revelations, twists and turns that will leave you shocked and wanting to know more, this book will surely please you. I am thrilled to have been able to read this book as an ARC and I am looking forward to reading further titles by this author.

Wasn’t this one awesome?! I have a review on my blog about it, as well, and would love to hear your thoughts! Karin is one of my all-time favorites, and ALL of her books are stellar. My main recommendation is that, when you read her series books, read them in order! Other than that, dig in!!
