Book Review: Baby Teeth by Zoje Stage

Thank you to St Martin’s Press and Raincoast Books for the free finished copy of this book to read and review. I have heard so many wonderful reviews on this book so when I received a copy in the mail I couldn’t wait to begin reading.

Creepy, shocking and deception.  Three words to describe this book. This book follows the story of a husband, wife and their daughter.

Hanna is the daughter. She is sweet but silent. She loves her daddy but she does not talk. All she wants is to be with her daddy and is sweet as can be when he is around. He dotes on her and gives her kisses, hugs and cuddles. Hanna will do anything for her daddy and all she wants is for it to be just her and daddy. The only problem is mommy. Mommy stands in the way of it being just Hanna and daddy. Hanna will do anything to get mommy out of the way, even if for good.

Suzette is the mother. She takes care of her daughter Hanna on a daily basis while her husband is at work. Hanna does not go to daycare or school as she has been expelled and has gotten in trouble many times and thus has to be home. Suzette really does love her daughter but has had enough of the struggles she has with Hanna. Hanna may be sweet and kind when her daddy is around but Suzette knows what Hanna is really like. Not the innocent sweet angel daddy thinks she is. Suzette is chronically ill and gets to see Hanna’s evil side. Hanna likes to play tricks and games on mommy and they begin to increase in severity. Suzette begins to wonder if there is something seriously wrong with her daughter.

I seriously loved this book. It has so many shocking twists, turns and surprises. Several times I was gasping and shocked to read what I was reading but in a very good way. So much deceiving and evil scares that gives you the creeps. I loved this book from beginning to end and once I began reading I could not put it down.

If you have not read this book you seriously need to. It will leave you with goosebumps and chills. Be ready for a heck of a ride as this book takes you on a wild journey. And remember…. sweetness can surely be deceiving.

I have read some books that I didn’t overly enjoy that have received amazing ratings and reviews. Heading over to your blog now to read your review 🙂
